Air Property Calculator

This tool calculates thermophysical properties of air for 100K < T < 1600K.

About

The thermophysical properties of air are calculated from polynomial curve fits to a data set for 100K to 1600K in the SFPE Handbook of Fire Protection Engineering 2nd Edition Table B-2. Therefore, the property infromation is valid in the range of 100K to 1600K. Plots of the data set with the best-fit curve, the equation of the best-fit curve and it's R2 value, and error analysis of the curve fit with respect the measured values have been performed.
  • Density: Plot with curve fit.
    Error: Max= -1.35%, Average= 0.25%
  • Specific Heat: Plot with curve fit.
    Error: Max= -0.38%, Average= 0.10%
  • Thermal Conductivity: Plot with curve fit
    Error: Max= 0.83%, Average= 0.30%
  • Kinematic Viscosity: Plot with curve fit
    Error: Max= -34.6%(@100K), Average= 2.48%
    Error (100K-250K): Max= -34.6%, Average= 12.7%
